International student health insurance Belgium
Health insurance in Belgium is compulsory for all foreign students and researchers. The insurance must cover the medical and hospital costs who is very expensive in Belgium.
- European Union
Students from EU and EFTA countries can provide their EHIC (European health insurance card). This card can be requested by the home countries health authorities.- Non-European Union
For non-European Union students who lives in countries with international agreements with Belgium, can use their own home country insurance (verify with your local health autorities). Otherwise you have to apply a membership in a private health insurance plan who is provided by SWISSCARE, Belbium plan.
Are you eligible for the Swisscare health insurance plan ? All people coming from countries outside of the EU/EEA, can take out a private plan. SWISSCARE Belgium insurance plan provide a special health package in accordance with the requirements in Belgium.
