Are you eligible for the Swisscare health insurance plan ? Students from countries outside the EU/EEA and below mentioned countries or agreements, cannot use the free medical care in Denmark. Therefore it is highliy recommended to have a private health insurance plan covering our medical treatments during your stay in Denmark.

Note that the standard health insurance does not take in charge expenses in connexion to home transport (repatriation) in case of an important illness i.e. It is in this case also highly recommended to take out a private insurance who cover this benefit.

The Nordic countries and the UK

Citizens from the above mentioned countries benefit of the same health care as the local Danish citizens for emergency medical treatment. Students from the Nordic countries are insured for 6 months by the Danish health insurance. For staying of more than 6 months, students must present the "Inter-nordiske flyttepapirer". This document can be requested by the local authorities in the home country. The Danish health insurance covers the British students likewise. In case of a medical assistance before obtaining a national health insurance card, you must provide your passport and refer to the special agreement with the Danish authorities.

The EU and EEA countries

Students form the EU and EEA countries are entitled to the same health benefits as the Danish citizens if they need an ermergency treatment. However people staying more than 3 months must provide the EU / EEA reciprocal health agreement (European health insurance card EHIC). At your arrival in Denmark, you must apply for the national health insurance card.

Other countries (Non Nordic, UK, EU or EFTA countries)

Students from countries outside the EU/EEA and the above mentioned countries or agreements, cannot use the free medical care in Denmark. Therefore it is highliy recommended to have a private health insurance plan covering our medical treatments during your stay in Denmark.
